The WEGAIN High Protein Balls combine a creamy protein centre with a chocolate or white coating and flavour-specific ingredients such as freeze-dried fruit or desiccated coconut. Depending on the flavour, one 70-g-Beutel 19 to 20 g protein.
The protein base mainly combines milk protein concentrate with hydrolysed collagen peptides and whole milk powder. The protein content therefore does not come exclusively from collagen, but from a mixture of different animal protein sources.
According to the manufacturer, the High Protein Balls are gluten-free and contain no added sugar. Maltitol is used primarily for sweetness. The handy 70-g-Beutel are therefore suitable as a convenient, protein-rich snack on the go or between meals.

The protein formula behind the WEGAIN High Protein Balls
The high protein content is achieved through a combination of different protein sources. The key ingredient is milk protein concentrate, which is used both in the protein centre and partly in the coating.
Milk protein provides a complete amino acid profile containing all essential amino acids. Proteins contribute to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass as well as the maintenance of normal bones.
The recipe also contains hydrolysed collagen peptides. The declared proportion is approximately 8,6 to 9,9 % depending on the flavour. Through hydrolysis, the collagen is present in smaller peptide structures.
Collagen protein, however, has a different amino acid profile from milk or whey protein. The WEGAIN High Protein Balls should therefore not be equated with a pure whey product. The declared total protein content comes from a combination of milk protein, collagen peptides and other milk components.
Coating, maltitol & consistency
Depending on the variety, either a dark cocoa-containing coating, milk coating or white coating is used. This makes up around 50 % of the product and provides the typical chocolatey outer layer.
The main sweetener used is maltitol . This makes it possible to avoid added sugar. However, milk ingredients and fruit naturally contribute small amounts of sugar.
Glycerineserves as a humectant and helps maintain the soft consistency of the protein mixture. Acacia gum is used as a thickener, while mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids combine the various components as an emulsifier.
